Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos talked to the media ahead of Sunday’s Spanish Supercup Final against Atletico de Madrid. The defender refused to admit that Atletico are “enemies” and instead wanted to call them “rivals.”

“It’s not nice to talk about enemies, there’s a rivalry but I wouldn’t go as far as calling any other team an enemy. They’re just one of our biggest rivals,” said Ramos.

Ramos was also asked about Real Madrid’s lack of scoring punch during the last few weeks of the season whether that can have a bigger effect against Atletico considering that Madrid will be without their leading scorer Karim Benzema.

“In the end we’re Real Madrid and we will go after it with whatever players we have. It’s true that we will be missing some players but we will do our best so that the team can score. We don’t have a scoring problem and we hope we don’t miss Karim,” explained Ramos.

The captain wanted to explain that they’re the same team that struggled during the first few weeks of the season. When asked about what has changed between the squad that lost in Mallorca and this one, Ramos was clear.

“Our coach uses the resources at his disposal. If you work, things will come your way, and the team is also in better form. That makes you see things differently from what happened months ago, but we’re the same team,” he said.

Ramos also said that he feels this is one of the best moments of his career.

“I feel very well right now, younger every day. This is one of the best moments in my career I think, and if I perform well that will be good for the team. I hope that we don’t suffer injuries and that we can keep clean sheets more often because that’s always very good for the team,” concluded Ramos.
